Greg Parrott has been in the computer industry for the past 23 years working for a wide range of companies (Paradyne [now Zhone], Lucent Technologies, IBM, Netlink, Data General [now EMC], Connectware, Adaptive Micro-Ware, and Applied Innovation.) Greg received his BS in computer science from NC State University in 1987 and completed an MS at NCSU in 1995 while working for IBM  focusing on real-time operating systems and data communications. Greg's professional work has been mostly in the communications arena, particularly in protocols and device drivers, but extending out into operating systems and network management. Greg is a firefighter and emergency medical technician (intermediate) for Parkwood Volunteer Fire Department in Durham, NC. He has held numerous positions from chairman of the training committee to captain of Squad 2.  Check out the department web page at http://www.pvfd.com, where Greg is currently the information technology officer for the department.

Greg's other hobbies include keeping his family happy, working on projects around the house, reading (Tom Clancy, Patricia Cornwell, Robin Cook, Clive Cussler, among many other favorites), banjo playing, gadgets, etc.  He is also Cubmaster for Pack 495 in the Mawat District.
